Being able to study history through art is one of the greatest joys I’ve experienced during my time in college. It’s opened up my mind to so many new forms of expression, redefined what I consider “art,” and helped me expand my vocabulary in the world of art.
Here are some of my art history projects that I’m proudest of:
A Culture of Horror:
Art History, Storytelling, and Collaboration
This is a research paper I wrote for my contemporary art history class in spring 2026. We were allowed to write about whatever piece of visual art media we were interested in. I chose to write about an online horror series called The Walten Files. I found my thesis while I was researching the culture of internet horror; horror as a genre is highly collaborative and is an effective way of learning about different cultures and their histories.
It reminded me of all the things I love about art history. By learning about art, we learn about the culture surrounding the art, and through that we learn history.
